More than 36,000 people have fled Sudan's Kordofan territory east of Darfur starting Saturday, as reported by the UN's migration organization.

The strategic central area separating the country's Darfur provinces and the Khartoum-Riverine region has during recent weeks become the newest conflict zone in the two-year civil war between the Sudanese military forces and the militia group.

Massive Evacuation Statistics

An approximated 36,825 people evacuated from five districts in North Kordofan province between 26 October and 31 October, per data from the International Organization for Migration.

The individuals, mainly traveling by foot, headed to Tawila, a town west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering in excess of 652,000 refugees.

Heightened Military Presence

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday described a heavy surge in both RSF and army concentration across towns and villages throughout the state.

Both forces are competing for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a important strategic and command base that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," commented an RSF member in a recently shared video statement.

Area Residents Detail Protection Issues

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, stated that the amount of RSF vehicles had grown considerably since the group's takeover of El Fasher.

"We discontinued traveling to our farms, afraid of clashes," the individual stated.

Another inhabitant, who requested anonymity for safety concerns, also reported that "there has been a significant rise in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

International Alarms and Requests

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "large-scale atrocities" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The official warned of patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been accused of mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The church leader on Sunday urged an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of relief routes in Sudan, declaring that attacks on civilians and obstacles to humanitarian aid "are producing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday alleged RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and declared that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the armed faction.

The representative further urged the international community to designate the group as a terrorist entity.
