Approximately 55,000 households have so far been impacted by the rains, with their belongings and temporary homes destroyed.

Intense rains over the last seven days have intensified the already dire living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the region, as stated by relief groups.

"Terrible" Night Creates Serious Risks

A representative detailed the recent storm as "horrendous", with rain so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"Last night was exceptionally difficult for the people. The heavy rains were so powerful... And the winds were so powerful," stated the spokesperson.

Authorities voice significant anxiety that minors residing in temporary structures in damp garments will contract hypothermia and additional illnesses.

Deaths and Extensive Destruction

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has died from the cold and at least 11 other people have been killed in building collapses triggered by the severe weather.

Additional accounts put a higher death toll. Authorities stated that multiple homes had collapsed completely and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

  • Roughly 55,000 families impacted by rains.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Numerous individuals required to move once more.

Assistance Operations Considered Not Enough

Organizations have increased shipments of shelter, blankets and clothes since the truce began, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid entering.

"Officials are striving constantly to bring in that aid and to allocate it, but the size of the requirements is so immense that we continue to see a great number of families and minors who are really suffering nightly," cautioned one spokesperson.

Ongoing Challenges and Truce Terms

The next stage of the truce includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of troops, and other provisions.

Humanitarian organizations have stressed the imperative for "greater and continuous relief to respond to pressing and future needs."

The conflict was triggered by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Following actions have caused a high number of lives lost in the territory, according to medical reports.
